'Mainstream Media Fact-Checkers Rip Kamala Harris’ DNC Speech to Shreds'

<https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/08/mainstream-media-fact-checkers-rip-kamala-harris-dnc/>

'For a candidate whose campaign is based entirely on surface
impressions, Kamala Harris managed to make a terrible one on Thursday
night — even to her biggest cheerleaders.

The Democratic nominee for president, a woman who has never received a
single vote outside the state of California in any election, took the
stage for the keynote address of the Democratic National Convention at
Chicago’s United Center.

And amid faking friendship with her audience of the faithful, she
managed to spit out lies so blatant even the “fact-checkers” of the
establishment media couldn’t ignore them.

From former President Donald Trump’s stance on abortion to foreign
policy to tariffs and taxation, Harris reeled off a series of falsehoods
about her Republican opponent, analysis by even reliably liberal news
outlets like The Washington Post, The New York Times and USA Today
noted.'

'And while they didn’t speculate on Harris’ potential motivation, even
an American with the mental capacity of Joe Biden could figure it out:
To give the viewers a deliberately distorted view of Trump’s plans.

As USA Today pointed out, Harris lied about an alleged Trump plan to
establish a national “anti-abortion coordinator.”

The outlet noted Harris was distorting an idea put forward by the
conservative Heritage Foundation’s “Project 2025,” a Democratic bugaboo
Trump hasn’t at all endorsed.

'At The Washington Post, “fact checker” Glenn Kessler (who’s too often
too willing to go easy when it comes to the Biden-Harris administration)
also found Harris had strayed from the truth describing Trump’s vision
for NATO, Russian aggression and the impact of the Trump tax cuts of
2017.

The bit about dealing with Russia was particularly egregious, since she
claimed Trump “encouraged” Russian President Vladimir Putin to “invade
our allies.”

Trump never encouraged Putin to “invade” any country. And there are
plenty of Americans old enough to remember that Putin did not, in fact,
invade anyone while Trump was president. It was actually Joe Biden who
“encouraged” Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.'

'Trump wants the country’s quasi-socialist European allies to pay their
fair share for a defense now being shouldered largely by the American
taxpayer — only Democrats would have a problem with that idea.

Harris, of course, wasn’t the only Democratic liar taking the stage in
Chicago.

The New York Times — again, no hot-bed of conservative thinking —
managed to put together a list of other Democratic speakers at the
convention with their own lies about Trump’s past.'

'What’s important here isn’t so much that Harris lied about Trump.
Democrats and their establishment media allies have been doing that
since he announced for the presidency in 2015.

What matters is that, for a change, some outlets have broken from their
Praetorian guard posture when it comes to Harris and publicized, if only
temporarily, exactly how deceptive her campaign actually is.

Harris is a cut-out candidate — a cardboard concoction whose attraction
is based solely on the impression she makes in contrast to the feeble
meanderings of the octogenarian Biden. (Even that low bar is apparently
too high sometimes.)'

'After almost four utterly unimpressive years as vice president, Harris
had been given a chance to re-introduce herself to the American public
by a mainstream media almost entirely devoted to defeating Trump in
November.

In other words, she got a chance to make a second first impression on
American voters.'

'But on Thursday night, not even her supporters in the establishment
media were entirely buying it.'

'American voters in November should know better, too.'

I get everything I think filtered through Breitbart and England's Daily
Mail tabloid.

Former Trump spokesperson shares insight into how and why he lies
Why does Donald Trump shamelessly repeat the same transparent lies, over
and over again? People close to him have already told us the answer.
Aug. 23, 2024, 11:27 AM EDT

By Steve Benen

In April 2020, Stephanie Grisham stepped down as Donald Trump’s White House
press secretary. In August 2024, Grisham not only disavowed her former
boss, she also spoke at the Democratic National Convention, telling
attendees that the Republican nominee has “no empathy, no morals and no
fidelity to the truth.”

But there was another part of her remarks that stood out for me.

“[Trump] used to tell me, ‘It doesn’t matter what you say, Stephanie — say
it enough and people will believe you.’ But it does matter — what you say
matters, and what you don’t say matters.”

At face value, the fact that Grisham was on the stage at all was
extraordinary. Not only is Trump’s former vice president withholding his
support for the Republican’s 2024 candidacy, and not only is Trump’s former
White House chief of staff condemning his former boss, but Trump’s former
White House press secretary and communications director appeared at the
Democratic convention and explained how and why the Republican lies.

But there was something familiar about what Grisham said during her
remarks.

As I noted in my new book, as Trump’s first year in the White House neared
an end, Billy Bush wrote an opinion piece for The New York Times. Bush was
not an especially notable public figure at the time, but in the infamous
“Access Hollywood” record, he was the one Trump bragged to about assaulting
women. (“When you’re a star, they let you do it,” the future president told
Bush. “You can do anything. Grab ‘em by the p---y.”)

In his 2017 op-ed, Bush reflected on what he’d learned about the then-
president and shared an anecdote about a conversation he’d had with Trump
about inflating the ratings of his reality-television program. Bush wrote
that Trump had told him privately, “People will just believe you. You just
tell them, and they believe you.”

Seven years later, Grisham said something eerily similar: “[Trump] used to
tell me, ‘It doesn’t matter what you say, Stephanie — say it enough and
people will believe you.’”

In other words, what Trump privately told Billy Bush about his willingness
to lie is effectively identical to what Trump privately told his former
White House press secretary about his willingness to lie. It’s a
philosophy, for lack of a better word, rooted in the idea that fiction can
simply overpower fact through relentless and shameless repetition.

Why does the former president repeat transparent nonsense, over and over
again? People close to him have already told us the answer.

The problem is unless the media stops covering for Kamala Harris the American voters, especially
the low information ones, won't know better in November.

Remembering what was posted recently is hard for a scatterbrain like
Hollowhead, even when it's still in the post he's responding to.
So you cannot answer the question.
What good would a conspiracy theory
be without an unknown "they" behind it?
Hollowhead, like Joe Biden, appears to have memory problems,
accompanying his dementia problems.

And apparently the democrats are so enamored with Kamala Harris that they don't care.
Maybe that's the plan?
As for her policies, look at the past 3 1/2 years and you will know exactly how miss "last to leave
the conference room" stack up.
If you have enjoyed the last 3 1/2 years then by all means vote for Kamala Harris. However remember
how Joe Biden a life long moderate democrat went far left after he got elected. It was a classic
bait and switch tactic and those same people who have been pulling Biden's strings will be pulling
Kamala's strings. Coupled with radical left Walz who makes Bernie look like a conservative this
country will become a total far left, communist country.

Take care comrade.

Officials Who Cast Doubt on Hunter Biden Laptop Face Questions
Dozens of former intelligence officials signed a letter discounting the laptop’s
contents. Republicans say the missive was part of a Biden campaign operation.

Hunter Biden, right, hugs President Biden. Both men are wearing baseball caps
and dark jackets at night.

When James R. Clapper Jr., the former director of national intelligence,
testifies on Wednesday behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, he will be the sixth
former intelligence official to be hauled before Congress as part of what has
become an intense focus of House Republicans: a public letter sent during the
height of the 2020 presidential campaign.

Republicans have seized on the document, signed by 51 former intelligence
officials whom the G.O.P. has taken to calling the “spies who lie,” as a prime
piece of evidence for their claims that officials inside the federal government
have tried to smear and damage conservatives. They argue that the missive was
written at the behest of President Biden’s allies to distract from salacious
material found on the abandoned laptop of his son Hunter Biden, and that it
ultimately helped the elder Mr. Biden defeat former President Donald J. Trump.

In the letter, reported at the time by Politico, former intelligence officials
holding impressive national security credentials wrote that they believed that
the contents of the laptop — full of evidence of drug use, prostitution and
foreign business deals — could be part of a Russian campaign aimed at
influencing the election, though they emphasized that they had no knowledge that
was true.

Three days later, Mr. Biden cited the letter during a presidential debate to
rebut Mr. Trump’s criticisms, asserting that “there are 50 former national
intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan.”

Three years later, no concrete evidence has emerged to confirm the assertion
that the laptop contained Russian disinformation, and portions of its contents
have been verified as authentic.

Republicans now say they have uncovered evidence that the letter was part of a
Biden campaign operation. According to closed-door testimony and emails, Biden
campaign officials, including Antony J. Blinken, now the secretary of state,
played a role in the creation of the letter. They also said a C.I.A. employee
“may have” been involved in soliciting at least one signature for it.

“The public statement by 51 former intelligence officials was a political
operation to help elect Vice President Biden in the 2020 presidential election,”
an interim report released last week by the Republican-led House Judiciary and
Intelligence Committees concluded. The report cited an email that said the
letter was intended to create a “talking point to use.”

The report concluded: “The American people deserve to know that Hunter Biden’s
laptop and emails were real. They always were real. The allegations that they
were the product of Russian disinformation were false.”

The investigation into the signers of the letter comes as Republicans are
digging into multiple aspects of the Hunter Biden story: Why social media
companies suppressed it; whether his father was involved in any of his business
deals; and whether anyone in government interfered with any inquiries into the
younger Mr. Biden, who is currently under federal investigation.

As Justice Department officials weigh the matter, the investigator overseeing
the Internal Revenue Service’s portion of the case has also come forward with
allegations of political favoritism in the inquiry. On Monday, a lawyer for that
investigator sent a short letter to Congress that said the investigator and the
rest of his team were being removed from the inquiry, which is reaching its end
as officials weigh whether to pursue charges. A spokesman for the president said
he was committed to the Justice Department’s independence “free from any
political interference by the White House.”

Democrats argue that the Republicans are wasting time and resources
investigating the 51 former intelligence officials, who were private citizens at
the time of the letter and wanted Mr. Biden to be victorious in the campaign.
The former intelligence officials stress that their letter stated that they had
no evidence of a Russian disinformation campaign, and that they were merely
stating an opinion.

Several said they did not regret their actions.

“The Congress is wasting its time and our money by investigating the First
Amendment rights of private citizens,” Mark Zaid, a lawyer who represents seven
signers of the letter, said in an interview.

Democrats also argue that the letter must be understood in its proper context.
Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani — whose credibility had become
shaky — had been shopping around the contents of the laptop to different news
media outlets, not long after a top Trump intelligence official warned that
Russia was seeking to “primarily denigrate former Vice President Biden” and that
“some Kremlin-linked actors are also seeking to boost President Trump’s
candidacy.”

The Democrats also note that Facebook and Twitter decided to censor or limit the
sharing of a New York Post article about the laptop’s contents five days before
the letter’s publication in Politico.

In a statement submitted to Congress on behalf of Michael J. Morell, the former
deputy director of the C.I.A., Mr. Morell said he “organized and helped draft”
the statement “because of his honest and well-founded belief that Russia was
involved in some way in the emergence of the Hunter Biden emails for the purpose
of interfering in the 2020 presidential election.”

“The public statement was careful not to claim that the New York Post story was
disinformation or that the information it reported was untrue, and Mr. Morell
was careful to confirm his suspicions with public source information and the
views of multiple experts in the field,” the statement said.

But Republicans are hoping to escalate the inquiry and have scheduled at least
two more transcribed interviews. Representative Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio
and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, also suggested in an interview that
he would be investigating whether any of the signers had retained their security
clearances and whether Congress could pass legislation to revoke them.

“The 51 people who signed that now-famous letter, my guess is they probably all
had their security clearances?” he said. “Does that make sense?”

Former Trump spokesperson shares insight into how and why he lies
Why does Donald Trump shamelessly repeat the same transparent lies, over
and over again? People close to him have already told us the answer.

Why does the former president repeat transparent nonsense, over and over
again? People close to him have already told us the answer.

why the Republican lies.
But there was something familiar about what Grisham said during her
remarks.
As I noted in my new book, as Trump?s first year in the White House
neared an end, Billy Bush wrote an opinion piece for The New York
Times. Bush was not an especially notable public figure at the time,
but in the infamous ?Access Hollywood? record, he was the one Trump
bragged to about assaulting women. (?When you?re a star, they let you
do it,? the future president told Bush. ?You can do anything. Grab ?

by the p---y.?)
In his 2017 op-ed, Bush reflected on what he?d learned about the then-
president and shared an anecdote about a conversation he?d had with
Trump about inflating the ratings of his reality-television program.
Bush wrote that Trump had told him privately, ?People will just
believe you. You just tell them, and they believe you.?
Seven years later, Grisham said something eerily similar: ?[Trump]
used to tell me, ?It doesn?t matter what you say, Stephanie ? say it
enough and people will believe you.??
In other words, what Trump privately told Billy Bush about his
willingness to lie is effectively identical to what Trump privately
told his former White House press secretary about his willingness to
lie. It?s a philosophy, for lack of a better word, rooted in the idea
that fiction can simply overpower fact through relentless and
shameless repetition.
Why does the former president repeat transparent nonsense, over and
over again? People close to him have already told us the answer.
Trumpers don't care about the truth.
Cult members never do.
Oh the irony.

For me it's a matter of draw a line in the sand on Jan 20th and level set the
major issues to see what the effect of Trump policies have on them.

It's a little more complex than that as one also has to look at what destructive
Biden policies are still in effect and if possible cancel them ASAP and then it
belongs to Trump. Biden has been doing everything he can to sabotage Trump.
Drilling on federal land is one example. There are more.

If things continue to deteriorate, Trump owns it.
If things improve, he owns that as well.

Of course there is going to be some overlap as there always is when
administrations change but Trump is not sitting back and learning how DC
works this time.
He's hitting the ground running and I think that is obvious.

The best part is that the left wing media can attack him all they want but there are few
listening or believing them anymore.

And you could see the anger in Biden's eyes when he started talking about big tech
no longer policing content aka censoring and carrying water for the democrats.
That is upsetting the DNC big time.

As I've said before, Trump will either right this ship or it's going to sink to the
bottom of the ocean faster than the Titanic.
It's going to take time. But time will be the ultimate judge.
