A man has died three days after being brutally assaulted in broad daylight
in south Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Police Department says the victim was hospitalized after being
found unconscious on the ground outside of a business on the 2500 block of
Lyndale Avenue South at 12:20 p.m. Saturday. He died at Hennepin County
Medical Center Tuesday morning.

Police say that the victim "was assaulted by a man who then fled the scene
in a vehicle," with Chief Brian O'Hara saying the victim had been
threatened by the suspect before the attack started.

On Wednesday, a 42-year-old suspect was arrested as police and SWAT agents
served a "high risk" warrant on the 2800 block of Knox Avenue South.

The Star Tribune has reported the victim is a 47-year-old man from St.
Paul.

"This is yet another instance of a violent individual showing complete
disregard for human life," said Chief O’Hara. "The suspect allegedly
threatened and brutally assaulted the victim in broad daylight, in full
view of the public.

"This kind of violence will not be tolerated. I am proud of the dedicated
and effective efforts of our investigators who continue to excel in their
work."
