Discussion:
Why Does The Left Hate God?

Answer: The left loves the power of government. The left believes in
using the power of government to shape society in ways that it approves
of. The left does not believe in, or trust people, or their ability to
manage their own lives, or the future of this country.

To the Right, God is the central authority.

To the left, the state / government is the center of all power and
authority.

Do you see why the left hates God and any society based upon him and
his values?

The fact is, any person who has a strong belief in God is not fully
under the authority of the State.
The left does not and never has enjoyed letting God be more powerful
than their governments.

Thus, anyone who strongly believes in God and knows his authority is
far greater than mere man or his governments is a threat to the power
of the left.

Would you like an example of how the left views Churches and the people
who attend them?

Video expert: FBI fired shots into Waco compound

Sources: Expert watched more TV reports than FBI video

Officials: flashes not from gun muzzles

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Government Reform Committee sources are
downplaying an expert's opinion that the FBI fired guns into the Branch
Davidian compound during the final day of the 1993 siege in Waco.

The sources tell CNN that expert assessment is based largely on
broadcast footage provided to the expert by a news organization -- not
on evidence provided by the committee.

Carlos Ghigliotti is the expert in thermal imaging and videotape
analysis who has done work for the FBI in the past.

Waco revisited

"I conclude that the FBI fired shots on that day," Ghigliotti told the
Washington Post in a report published Wednesday. "I conclude this based
on the ground-view videotapes taken from several different angles
simultaneously and based on the overhead thermal tape. The gunfire is
there, without a doubt."

Ghigliotti, owner of Infrared Technologies Corp., in Laurel, Maryland,
said the tapes also confirm that the Davidians fired at FBI agents
repeatedly during the assault.

But House committee sources said Ghigliotti's current analysis of the
Waco incident "is in its infancy stage. He has not provided the
committee with any reports or any definitive findings."

And the sources said the committee plans to consult a number of experts
before reaching any conclusions.

A couple of points on this.

(1) What passes as "Christianity" or "belief in God" in the US is a bad
caricature of religion, with no respect at all for the teachings of Christ.
See for example
http://www.harpers.org/ExcerptTheChristianParadox.html

(2) Every time in history when people have tried to mix God in earthly
politics, oppression, carnage and bloodshed have ensued.

So, the absolute best you can do for your country and the world is to keep
religion out of government.

Not atheism, just leave God out of the government. After all, what people
portray as "God's will" is only their own personal ambitions to which they
hope to attach a sense of authority; they use God as a horse to pull their

There is no way you can ever get rid of your personal interpretation getting
into the way. Do you accept *everything* the Bible says, or do you keep some
things and drop others? If you do the latter, you do it based on your
interpretation of what is important in the Bible and what is not. For
example, do you avoid clothes made of more than one fabric? The Bible bans
those. Which translation of the Bible do you accept? They do not all say the
same things.

Besides, the Biblical scripture is precisely what many Christians, most
notably in the US, get wrong. See the link I posted in my first post in this

I do not believe in Satan. People use both God and Satan to their own ends,
to try to get rid of their own responsibilities. Satan is the cause of their
bad deeds, so they themselves are not responsible; God forgives their bad
deeds so they can continue doing them: getting saved is just a matter of
believing, no need to fix one's ways.

YOU don't understand. Separation of church and state
keeps religion out of the government AND government out
of religion.

Would you like it perhaps, if you had a wonderful "religious
government", whose official religion just happened to be
different from yours?

If you are not a Catholic, would you want public funding of
public schools teaching your children the Catachism ?

Daily Bible readings? How about Koran readings, or prayers
five times a day, exposed to your "Christian" child? Should
a child who is Jewish, Muslim, Navajo, or a dozen other
common religions (or an atheist or agnostic) have to be
exposed to say, Southern Baptist religious teachings?

You don't have to leave your beliefs at the door of the
Legislature, you simply have to not make any laws which
violate the 1st Amendment of the Constitution..

This country is a democratic republic, not a theocracy.
Which is why it is a free country, primarily - a Very Good
Thing.

Sir, you need to read what was actually written.
No one advocated atheism, but separation of church and
state.
Religious freedom implies the right to be an atheist as well
as holding religious beliefs.
Separation means the government will not establish a state religion. It does
not preclude people of faith conducting matters of faith in office.
It also means fools like you actually are stupid enough to believe
Bush is a born again Christian when it fact he's worthless druken

You obviously have both a reading and history problem.

Matti said; "keep religion out of government." He did not say keep people
out of government who have a religion or put atheist in government.

The hundreds of wars over the centuries have been started by tyrants of all
religious beliefs. Wars are caused by greedy tyrants of all beliefs.

As opposed to you I think that government has no place in religion.
Politics has nothing to say to the religous. You want a state religion, one
that equates holiness with you. What you guys hate is the vision of Christ,

I'm not sure what your point is.

But most child molesters are Christians. Most of those in prison are
Christians. Christians routinely support murder and murderers. They
routinely ignore those commandments they find inconvienent. Christians
for the most part are morally and ethically bankrupt. The modern
Christian has so perverted the teaching of Christ that Christ himself
wouldn't recognize it. There are certainly no bigger hypocrites then
the modern American Christain.

But this is irrelevant. He didn't say that Christians were
'MASS-MURDERING, CHILD-KILLING BASTARDS' he said the Christian god was
a MASS-MURDERING, CHILD-KILLING BASTARD. That's documented quite
thoroughly in the bible.

Do you deny that the Christian god is a mass murderer? Didn't he
through a little hissy fit awhile back and kill almost every living
thing on the planet? Didn't have another little tantrum long ago in
the garden and condemn every living thing to death for all eternity
because of the actions of two people? Doesn't he condemn human beings
to burn in the firey pits of hell just because they happened to not
believe in him or they honored their parents by believing in their god
or gods?

The Christian god is by far the most despicable god ever created by
man.

From: http://www.cnn.com/US/9910/06/waco.fbi/index.html
All of us are accountable to God. The government is accountable to the

Keep YOUR God out of MY government.
A perversion of the Frist Amendment is responsible for the
misinterpretation of its intent.

Our founders did not mean that government should limit speech, or go
around stamping out Christmas displays. Over 80 percent of Americans
say they are "Christians". 95 to 98 percent believe in God. We are a
very religious country which has a lot to do with who we are and our
grand success as the freeest people on earth.

Our founding fathers were not afraid that we would become a
theocracy. They came from european countries that had oppressed
religion through various means including imposing a state religion on
those who wanted to practice their own.

The First Amendment only limits what Congress can do with regards to
religion.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

It does not prohibit anything else with regards to religion, therefore,
any USSC ruling that runs against this Amendment is wrong. period.

To the Right, God is the central authority.
But that is nonsense. You claim to believe in the God of the bible,
but you flagrantly ignore every last one of the rules.

You eat pork.
You eat lobster.
You have sex with women out of wedlock
You don't donate to the poor
You are idle
You kill and promote killing.
You take from the poor to give to the rich.
You are proud.
You are a glutton.

For others see http://mindprod.com/religion/biblestudy.html

So you spit in the face of this supposed "authority"

"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of
bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters,
neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy."

Time for a spiritual overhaul, CB. I am sensing fear, animosity,

After all, the bible did warn us about people like you.
Time for a spiritual overhaul, CB. I am sensing fear, animosity,
arrogance, even hubris. That leaves precious little room for Jebus to
live in your heart. It is not in a good state.
Either your Jebus has failed you, or you have failed your Jebus.
In other words, you know what they say about glass houses and
stones....
You may feel unworthy of salvation but I am not.

Fear is for cowards who would cut and run in the face or 'fear of defeat'.

Liberalism means never having to face ones fears, never having to sacrifice
ones selfish wants, nor to fight Evil for the sake of peace.

Let the brave fight the war on Evil, be gone coward.

Why Does The Left Hate God?
They don't, and you're a liar. How does God feel about your lying?
Baggi
I don't know about the Left hating God, but I have noticed a
bizarre antipathy towards traditional Christianity. It seems to be
growing stronger over the past few years. There are many people
posting on Usenet who are rabid, knee-jerk, aggressive haters of
church-going Christians. How nutty is that? Good Christians are
the backbone upon which the West was built. Yet the hatred exists.

Why? I'm not sure, but I've got some ideas. The Church told people
that they should try to behave rightly, and it defined the
difference between right and wrong. These boundaries are
inconvenient to selfish bastards who only want to indulge their
random impulses and consume more material goods. The teachings of
the churches remind these selfish infantile morons that they are
doing wrong.

That's what they cannot stand -- to be told they are doing wrong.
That's why they hate religion with such spiteful, childish passion.

Actually, you have it all wrong. The continuous hypocrisy of today's
Conspicuous Christians turns people against organized religion in
general.

Organized religion is more of a business nowadays than a philosophy.

And most of the so-called "Christians" who think they are being
so righteous by supporting George W. Bush and the Republicans
are completely confused about Jesus' teachings. Unmitigated
greed and needless killing of tens of thousands of innocent
civilians while ignoring mass starvation and disease of literally
millions is completely contrary to anything Jesus told us. (No
wonder most of the world hates our country!)

Modern Republicans hide under a cloak of hypocrisy, insisting that
they exclusively OWN Christianity, free enterprise, capitalism,
work ethic, moral decency, patriotism, and every human virtue.
Yet they *live* virtually the opposite, and nothing is too good for
them.

Sorry, when I see what Republicans accomplish and look at what
COULD be accomplished, I have to give them a big 'F'. (I blame
politicians in general for their sorry performance, but the Republicans
add a level of corruption nowadays that cannot be matched.)

So, in spite of your own opinions, I submit that organized religion,
particularly in conjunction with the behavior of the modern Republican
Party, has earned every bit of hatred directed toward them.

Why would your god, or any god, care who loves, hates or ignores him?
Does your god have an ego that must be stroked regularly? Is your god
insecure? Is that why you insist that he needs believing in? And what
happens if everyone stops believing in your god, will he simply
disappear? Was that the fate of Thor and Zeus? If a god depends on
the belief of mere humans, well, then it wasn't much of a god to begin
with, was it?

If, as you say, your god is the highest authority, then who is the next
highest? and the next one after that? And if there is only one god,
then is the lack of competition the reason for his underperformance
(starvation, wars, disease, cruelty, etc.)? If we could find some
other gods and let them compete for our fealty, we might get a better
deal. Let the marketplace decide! Maybe a little competition would
get your god off his lazy ass and start making things a little better
around here, or lose to a god with a better track record.

Better yet, let's just ignore all gods and get on with it ourselves. If
we all understand that we are on our own, and that justice and good are
our responsibility, we might start behaving in a more civilized manner.

A lucid observation. I have suspected for some time that the "God" that
many people speak of is not only a construct of their own mind and a
manifestation of personal, internal deficiencies, but is really an
acurate projection of people's lesser nature. They have in fact created
God in thier own image, the reverse of a popular biblical tenet. Crazy.

I do realize that ever person creates their own personal construct of
what "God" is (or isn't) to them, and I believe some people actually
can connect with a true "spiritual source" through that construct, as
if an interface.

But I personally find that much more is LOST by attempting to define
"God" in human terms, by forcing the greatest mysteries of the universe
into silly little anthropomorphisms and fairy tales. THAT is the handy
work of none other than the collective human mind. For those that
believe in any kind of "God", then observe creation for a stark
contrast to human mentality. There you may actually encounter the
Divine, but religion will be nowhere to be found.
