Thank Goodness for Fox News.......if you have the mind of a complete
idiot and fail to look at what is paraded as "news" from Fox with a
critical eye. It is a mix of misleading statements, calculated
deceit, engineered misdirection, and often direct lies. Here is a
short list of some of the most obvious of Fox Fair and Balanced items.
1. Among the most notorious comments offered on Fox News is the one
concerning the Robert Reich "white male construction worker"
statement. Fox turns Reich's statement around by 180 degrees. Listen
to the comments offered by Michelle Malkin.
http://tiny.cc/WkTYO
Reich clearly said "...not SIMPLY go.....to white male
construction workers"
This was such a blatant misinterpretation that Robert Reich
responded to the Fox report on his blog:
http://robertreich.blogspot.com/2009/01/open-letter-to-rush-limbaugh-sean.html
And in case some might be thinking that Malkin just made a
singular error, she repeats the misquote in yet another clip which can
be seen in an embedded video from Reich's blog at:
http://mediamatters.org/research/200901230015?f=h_latest
2. A short video clip of Biden is carefully edited by Fox to give a
false impression of his economic views:
http://mediamatters.org/research/200903160026
A more complete clip of Biden making this statement clearly
attributes the quote to John McCain:
3. Fox chooses to omit a word from a speech by Obama. The omission
of the word 'only' changes the entire meaning of Obama's idea. Here
is the Fox transcript of Obama's presentation:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/18/house-readies-passage-volunteerism-critics-pricey-forced-service/
Scroll down the site to the Obama "quote" and you will read:
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve....".
Obama's actual quote can be heard at
He clearly says and emphasizes the word 'only'. Without that
one word in the transcript, it makes it sound as if Obama does not
believe our military can handle the job. Or worse, Obama wants some
kind of civilian secret police.
4. In an item from the Fox News site, Obama is said to be in favor
of a bankruptcy by General Motoes. But farther down the column, a
spokesperson states that Obama is NOT in favor of a bankruptcy.

5. This case is not a contortion of an event, but rather a case
where someone at Fox did not thoroughly investigate an item which
turned out to be a parody. Fox repeatedly aired the item as "news".
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/27/fox-parody/
6. In this item, Fox shows video of what is supposedly a crowd
gathered for a book signing by Palin. Early in the clip, a spectator
can be seen holding a "Country First" sign. The clip is from the
November campaign.
7. Jon Stewart points out Fox's use of video from different
events (and months) to give a false impression of crowd size.

8. Hannity on Fox news says Biden stated that we are in a
depression. Biden was clearly quoting an old adage, "When your
neighbor is out of work, it's a recession. When you are out of work,
it's a depression." Biden adds that for millions in America, it is a
depression. He doesn't say "we" (the US), but rather as far as the
unemployed are concerned, it is a depression.
9. Fox stated that Obama's Science Czar, John Holdren had
promoted forced sterilization and abortion as viable means of
population control. The Fox article can be read at:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/07/21/obamas-science-czar-considered-forced-abortions-sterilization-population-growth/
But if an observer will read farther down the column from the
above cite, he will see that a spokesman for Holdren flatly denied
such a position on the part of Holdren. Further denial by Holdren can
be read at:
http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jul/29/glenn-beck/glenn-beck-claims-science-czar-john-holdren-propos/
